The pod camping unit is made out of an old 20 foot shipping container and mounted on a trailer.

Proyecto ARQtainer - Casa, Chile - 5 shipping container Home

Five corten steel shipping containers, 2 x 40 Foot and 3 x 20 Foot were transformed into a bright orange earthquake-proof home that sits on the outskirts of Santiago, Chile. The house, by Project ARQtainer, was developed as an earthquake-resistant and low-cost home that could be built in a small time frame. For the architects, shipping containers provided the ideal building material given their strength, durability, stackability, modular form and ample availability. Measuring a little over 1,200 square feet, the container home features thermal pane windows, internal coating plasterboard and projected cellulose insulation.

In this kit you will receive two 20 foot shipping container models which are 20cm long, scaled to 10cm = 2 feet, and one 40 foot shipping container which is 40 cm long.

They can be printed with wood finish interiors in case you want to make open plan design.

The kit includes a blue print plan so you can design the interior layout of your container house.

You can use the made to scale bathroom and kitchen to experiment what position it suits your design or cut out individual to scale furniture to design that perfect visual layout.

The models are easy to cut out and simple to glue together to give you the building blocks of your design

You can even cut of a section to view interior design

Ecosa Design Studio - Flagstaff, Arizona - Six Shipping Container Home,
This house is constructed from six recycled shipping containers. The 2,000-square-foot single family-house includes 2 lofted sleeping areas, 2 baths, an office, studio, storage room, and small green house. It received an award from the Coconino County Sustainable Building Program in 2010.


The containers have been pre-fabricated in Phoenix and trucked to the northern Arizona site for their placement into the project.
This project uses five 40-foot long "high-cube" containers for the main house, in a criss-cross plan that rises into an open, dayligh filled, two-story high atrium space. and a 20 foot for the studio.

London Forest YMCA is launching a project to use shipping containers to provide temporary accommodation for young homeless people., The organisation is working with Robert Kilgour Architects and Midlands-based consultancy Essence Design to develop the mYPad initiative.

Robert Kilgour is working on interior design for the containers – which house a bedroom, shower, toilet and other facilities – while Essence has worked on the branding and graphics for the containers.
